Andrea Nagy est née en 1978 à Budapest. Elle démarre l’apprentissage de la clarinette d’abord au Conservatoire Béla Bartók de Budapest avec András Horn, puis à l’Académie Franz Liszt aux côtés de Béla Kovács.

Elle poursuit ses études à la Musikhochschule de Freiburg en Allemagne, avec Dieter Klöcker et Jörg Widmann et obtient son diplôme en 2003. Elle intègre alors le programme d’études pour solistes dirigé par Ernesto Molinari à la Kunsthochschule de Berne (Suisse). C’est là qu’elle obtient en 2006 le Prix Musical Eduard Tschumi de meilleure soliste de l’année, pour son interprétation lors de l’examen final. Elle étudie ensuite, pendant deux ans et toujours à Berne, la clarinette basse.

Andrea Nagy a été distinguée par plusieurs prix et récompenses : en 1993, elle obtient le Premier Prix du Concours National de Musique en Hongrie. En 2002, elle bénéficie d’une bourse d’études aux célèbres Ferienkurse de Darmstadt. Deux ans plus tard, elle obtient le Prix Kranichstein décerné par la Ville de Darmstadt. En 2006, elle arrive deuxième, puis en 2009 première, au Concours Nicati d’Interprétation de la Musique Contemporaine, organisé par l’association suisse Tonkünstlerverein.

Andrea Nagy a intégré les masterclasses de David Smeyers et Eduard Brunner, et a participé plusieurs fois aux sessions de formation des Ferienkurse de Darmstadt. Elle a travaillé avec Stefan Litwin et Yukiko Sugawara.

Au sein de différents ensembles, Andrea Nagy s’est produite, entre autres, aux festivals suivants : Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, June in Buffalo, Gaida (Lituanie), Festival de Davos Festival et Festival de Lucerne. Son travail a déjà été enregistré sur CD, et elle a déjà joué à la radio et à la télévision, notamment dans l’émission «Nachtmusik» à la WDR 3 (Allemagne). Un portrait lui a été consacré dans la série d’émissions «Musik Debüt» pour la SWR (Allemagne).

Andrea Nagy se produit régulièrement avec les grands ensembles actuels tels que : Klangforum Wien, Ensemble Modern, oh ton-ensemble, Ensemble Mosaik, Ensemble Laboratorium et Smash Ensemble (Espagne)…Elle a aussi travaillé avec de nombreux chefs et compositeurs renommés, parmi lesquels Heinz Holliger, Pierre Boulez, Matthias Spahlinger, Erhard Karkoschka, Nicolaus A. Huber, Helmut Lachenmann and Johannes Kalitzke. Elle joue avec l’ensemble Linea depuis 2009.

Andrea Nagy was born in 1978 in Budapest. She started learning the clarinet with András Horn at the Béla Bartók Conservatory in Budapest, later studying under Béla Kovács at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music. She continued her studies at the College of Music in Freiburg, Germany, studying under Dieter Klöcker and Jörg Widmann and graduating with a degree in music in 2003. After that she joined the soloist programme under Ernesto Molinari at the Bern University of the Arts. For her performance at her nal examination in 2006 she was awarded the Eduard Tschumi Music Prize of Bern for the best soloist in her year. She then stayed at the Bern University of the Arts for a further two years in order to study bass clarinet.

 

Andrea Nagy has won several prizes, including in 1993 1st prize at the Hungarian National Music Competition. In 2002 she was awarded a scholarship to join the prestigious International Summer Course for New Music Darmstadt, in 2004 she won the Kranichstein Music Prize of the City of Darmstadt, and in 2006 she came 2nd, in 2009 1st at the Nicati Performers’ Competition for Contemporary Music, organised by the Swiss Tonkünstlerverein (Musicians’ Association).

She has taken part in master classes given by David Smeyers and Eduard Brunner, has participated several times in the International Summer Course for New Music Darmstadt and has worked with Stefan Litwin and Yukiko Sugawara.

With various chamber music ensembles Andrea Nagy has performed at, amongst others, the following festivals: Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, June in Buffalo Festival, Gaida Festival Lithuania, Davos Festival and the Lucerne Festival. She has been recorded on CD and also appeared on radio and TV, performing on the music programme «Nachtmusik» for the German TV channel WDR 3 and she was the subject of a feature for the «Musik Debüt» series on the channel SWR.

Andrea Nagy performs with ensembles such as the Klangforum Wien, Ensemble Modern, Ensemble Linea, oh ton-ensemble, Ensemble Mosaik, Ensemble Laboratorium and Smash Ensemble/Spain, and she has worked with renowned conductors and composers such as Heinz Holliger, Pierre Boulez, Matthias Spahlinger, Erhard Karkoschka, Nicolaus A. Huber, Helmut Lachenmann and Johannes Kalitzke, to name but a few.
